Wilson's School

Badminton Nationals

Last Sunday, the KS4 badminton team embarked on an early journey to Milton Keynes for the Badminton England National Finals. The boys arrived full of excitement yet remained calm and confident in their abilities. During the group stages, they played three matches, securing victories in all of them, which earned them a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals against Parmiter's School.

The semi-final match was fiercely contested, beginning with Navaj, who displayed remarkable resilience and determination to claim a narrow 21-20 win in his singles match, battling back from a challenging position. Next, Vincent and Shubhransh teamed up for the doubles, putting on an excellent performance to put Wilson's School 2-0 up in the tie. Unfortunately, the final games didn’t go in their favour, and they lost the tie 3-2, just missing out on a place in the final.

Despite the disappointment, the team remained focused and went on to compete in the 3rd place play-off, where they triumphed, winning all their matches to secure the bronze medal. While Navaj and Shubhransh will be moving up to the KS5 team next year, Vincent, Kai Tian, and Abhay will have another chance to chase the coveted title of KS4 National Champions in 2025-2026.

We want to extend our congratulations to all the students who participated in badminton this year at Wilson's School. Your dedication, effort, and sportsmanship have made us incredibly proud. We look forward to another successful year ahead!
