Wilson's School

Record-breaking Football Season

Player of the Week

Penuel (Year 13) rose highest at the back post to head the Year 13s ahead in their final game for the school against Tiffin. Not to be outdone, Seeralan (Year 13) scored a sensational goal from outside the box to double their lead. Nana (Year 11) was everywhere in midfield for the U17As against Tiffin, starting attacks and breaking up play constantly. Max (Year 8) scored a super hat-trick to fire the U13As to a win in their last regular game of the season. Player of the Week is Arjun (Year 7) who was outstanding in midfield for the U12Bs, and scored a stunning header from a corner.

Team of the Week

This week we have two teams of the week; the U12Bs and the Year 13s. Mr Olowu's U12Bs beat Challoner in their final game to remain unbeaten all season - a fantastic effort by the whole squad. The Year 13s had a fitting end to their Wilson’s footballing careers, recording a 3-1 win against Tiffin. An emotional send off to the pupils who have shown nothing but total commitment to school football and always wore the yellow and black shirt with such pride!

This weekend marked the end of the regular football season, the U13As still have to play their Sutton Cup final and the U12As a huge Surrey Cup Semi Final against Whitgift. It has been a record-breaking year for football with a huge 435 football games being played, the highest number of games played by the school in a single season. A fantastic effort by all putting Wilson’s in the top two in the country. We would like to thank all those that made this possible including staff, officials, Old Wilsonian’s and our opposition. A special thank you to the families and friends of our pupils who often give up a large part of their Saturday to get our pupils to games, we really appreciate their support.

Finally, well done to our pupils who continue to do the school pride in terms of performances and sportsmanship every time they pull on the yellow and black jersey, it is them and their dedication that make Wilson’s Football so special.
