House Blitz Chess
The autumn House blitz chess tournament was a terrific event, bringing together 125 participants from all houses and year groups in a fast-paced blitz format of 3+2. The energy was high, with students showcasing their strategic prowess in swift matches. Not only were strategies being played out on the Chess board however: off the board teams were rotating players between rounds in well devised plans of attack.
The top honours went to Brecon, who claimed the overall championship, followed closely by Hayes in second place, and Camberwell in third. A special mention goes to the teams from 8D and 9H, both achieving an impressive score of 9.5/12. However, the standout performance of the day was delivered by 10B, who achieved a phenomenal score of 11/12, dominating their matches with exceptional skill.
A special mention goes to all the prefects who volunteered their time to help run the event, contributing to the tournament's success and making it a memorable experience for all involved!
