Junior Rugby gets underway!

The new season is off to an enthusiastic start for our new Year 7 squad. After a few training sessions, our first competitive fixture came around, facing Carshalton Boys. The evidently experienced side from Carshalton was too much for our squad – particularly as many of our players were playing Rugby for the first time! However, it was a great learning experience for the team and our first try of the season was scored by captain, Constantine.

A fixture against Riddlesdown followed in similar fashion to the previous game, a learning experience and one that will help us move forward. Our most recent fixture saw us up against Caterham school. This was a close battle against two evenly matched teams. Wilson’s showed excellent improvement from the previous games, moving the ball as a team to create space and strong in the tackle to improve us defensively. Drawing at half-time, Wilson’s came out with high energy levels for the second half and with confidence growing, a strong second half followed, leading to Wilson’s winning their first match of the season!
