Latin poetry

We hope that regular readers of our website have been enjoying our recent series of articles featuring student work in Classics, particularly showcasing the creative aspects of their work in this subject area. We are proud to maintain the tradition of education in Latin at Wilson’s, and it is clear that pupils continue to enjoy all aspects of the subject. We hope you enjoy the poem which Nathan (Year 7) has written about Pompeii.

Many, many years ago
There was a city Pompeii, yo!
So you better sit back
There is some information you lack

You better hold your head tightly
Cause this rides bouta be feisty
Why don’t you sit and see
All the amazing things you could be
In this wonderful city

Merchant, banker, lawyer
Carpenters, actors and architects
The list will keep on going
So we better listen to Miss Cohen

Why don’t you go to the market
Not like the modern day Target
Food and drinks all you need
There is enough to feed

You must have learnt something today
About the city of Pompeii
Don’t fall for ant traps
So I guess that’s a wrap.
