Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The autumn term is the longest of the three terms, and it sometimes seems unbelievable that it is the same term that starts with hot sunny afternoons and long evenings. But it is because of the huge effort that goes into this term that it is so important to reflect and to think about what has been achieved in recent months. Several events over the past few weeks have helped to bring the term to a joyful close, including the Whole School Assembly on the last day, with performances from the wind band and inspiring words from the School Captain on the themes of achievement, giving and rest.
Our annual Carol Service was - as always - a wonderful evening, combining beautiful performances of carols (traditional and modern) with moving readings, encouraging us to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

A little earlier this month, our Winter Concert was also a great success, bringing together students from across the school in some large ensemble works - including a neglected masterpiece by Lili Boulanger for orchestra.

As pupils were reminded more than once this week, a holiday at this time of the year can be a chance to show the people around us that we love them. A chance to be the best friend or family member we can be - not by buying gifts – but by saying and doing things that make others feel respected and loved.
We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
