MATCH REPORT AND MORE
Posted on: | Category:

Congratulations to our 1st XI, U13As and U12As who have fought their way to the latter stages of their county cups: a fantastic effort to have three teams right in there until the end in these tough competitions.

Thursday was Sutton Cup Final night for our U13As and U12As. Our U13As were unlucky to concede two late goals in losing 3-2 against Cheam. This completed another brilliant season from the squad, of which they all should be very proud.

The U12As were involved in a thrilling final: Carshalton staged a late comeback to draw the game 2-2 — but this U12 team doesn’t know when it’s beaten. They showed resilience and bravery to win the penalty shoot-out 6-5, scoring all their penalties. Zak (Year 7—photo below left) was the hero again, saving the last penalty. Well done, all!

Our regular season has come to an end with a massive 425 games, our highest number of games ever and one of the most in the country. We would like to thank all those that make these games possible. The hard work of the PE staff, fantastic opposing schools, reliable officials, and the commitment of players families continue to make Wilson’s Football special. But most of all well done to all pupils who have represented the school with such pride and sportsmanship. Roll on next season!

Match Report

U12A 2 VS 2 Carshalton (Wilson’s win 6-5 on penalties)

This was an amazing game of football. Wilsons U12A got off the score sheet quickly thanks to a magnificent goal from hard working winger Max. The team continued to press, and the lead was doubled with a goal from Aron.

However, after those two quick succession goals from the Bumble Bees the tables began to turn. The rest of the first half was quite even. But as the last 15 minutes of the game approached, Carshalton Boys school scored to make it 2-1. Then, Carshalton had a big opportunity to tie the game and their centre- back slotted away a free kick from the halfway line.

The game went to penalties, a nail-biting finish for all. In the end Zak (Wilson’s keeper) made a spectacular save to seal the deal for Wilson's school. In the end, Wilson's won 6-5 on penalties. Champions of Sutton! Sid (Year 7)
