As part of their Insects project, Year 10 Art GCSE students spent a very productive and enjoyable day drawing from observation.
They started by visiting the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the natural History Museum, where they were given perfect conditions for drawing insects from the Centre’s collection not on public view. They then continued drawing from the Museum’s collection on public display where they had to manage drawing while being observed by the Museum’s visitors.
The second part of the trip involved going to the Victoria and Albert Museum and independently searching for objects inspired by insects. They discovered jewellery, ceramics, everyday objects and clothes and fabric where designers and artists have been inspired by or decorated the objects with insects. Well done to all Year 10 students who completed full four A3 size pages of beautiful drawings!
