Wilson's School

Senior Production Update

Our cast members continue to attend rehearsals and are collaborating well to learn the choreography of each scene. Our principal actors are working extremely hard learning and perfecting their lines and exploring the motivations behind their characters' actions.

This week, rehearsals continue for our band who, under the direction of Mr Kramer are getting to grips with the complicated, but hugely rewarding music of Jason Robert Brown. Piano teacher Ms Ableman and Dr Burton Head of Music, will join the band of student musicians on stage. Soon all our performers and Band members will be trying on their costumes for the first time and Mrs Straw will spend the next few weeks making adjustments, helping to bring Mr Kavanagh's brilliant and innovative vision together.

If you haven't seen Parade before you are in for a treat. The musical is based on the real life true story of a Jewish man from New York in 1912 who was tried for a brutal murder he swore he didn't commit in the Southern State of Georgia. Our musical explores the events and the environment that lead up to his trial, and its outcome, and examines the evidence and prejudices that contributed to his threatened conviction and execution. Will his wife manage to fight his cause and be successful in her mission to prove his innocence? Only by coming to see our production will you find out. It is a very moving and powerful story and is extremely well told.

Parade has a cast of twenty students and a band made up of 15 hand picked musicians. All will be on stage for most of the show. Everyone will play an integral part. Our backstage crew have been briefed. They are waiting for flooring to arrive and will soon be building the rather unusual set that will extend onto the floor of the JJ Hall. Professional, sensitive and rather costly headset microphones have been hired and our lighting and sound team are preparing for the arduous process of long weekend and late evening tech rehearsals.

A Wilson's Production is always something to look forward to. This year we have been entered into a National Drama competition - we hope you will come and support us by buying tickets. Your son doesn't have to be involved in the production for you to come - why not make it a family outing? The PFA will be selling refreshments, and it’s your chance to embody the school's motto of Non Sibi Sed Omnibus; Not For Oneself But For All!

The production will run for three nights on Tuesday 11th, Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th February. £9 Tickets are available on Arbor or via a ticket order form available at reception. We look forward to seeing you!
