Thank You
Thank you to all the Old Wilsonians, parents, former parents, students, staff, and friends whose acts of support and generosity mean so much to us.
The phrase "thank you" has fascinating etymological roots. In English, it originated from the Old English word ‘thancian’, which meant "to give thanks." This comes from the Proto-Germanic word "thankojan," originally meaning "I will remember what you did for me." This connection suggests that gratitude has historically been linked to a memory of kind acts.
The concept of formally acknowledging kind acts or service appears to be a universal human trait and one we actively embrace at Wilson’s, where the notion of selflessness, service and thanking is enshrined within our motto, Non Sibi Sed Omnibus – not for oneself, but for all.
At Wilson’s we actively remember and celebrate those whose kindness has underpinned our development, from the high percentage of our parents who contribute to our regular giving scheme, to those many hundreds of members of the wider Wilson’s community who have made donations to our development programme since our founding in Camberwell in 1615. These kind, and in many cases enduring acts of philanthropy are an integral part of that which makes us thrive and prosper.
The support of the Wilson's community is invaluable, and enables us to compete as one of the very best schools in the country across the board.
Thank you for the part you play in ensuring Wilson's can continue to go from strength to strength.
