Wilson's School

The Class of 2024

It’s been a week of mixed emotions on Mollison Drive as we send the class of 2024 on their study leave. Students and teachers have enjoyed celebrating the last seven years of education, whilst putting the final touches to A Level courses and, for some students, even beginning their A Level examinations! It has been very touching to see pupils and parents thanking teachers and acknowledging the outstanding support they have enjoyed during their school career at Wilson’s. For teachers, some of whom will remember this week’s leavers on their first day of year 7, there is a sense of pride and warmth for the well-rounded young people ready to embark on the next stage of their lives.

Pupils have enjoyed the opportunity to wear some (slightly outgrown) articles of their old school uniform this week. And the, as ever, highly competitive staff vs students football match kicked off after school on Tuesday. The students were 1-0 up, after a penalty scored by Freddie (Year 13), before an equalising penalty taken by Mr Palmer took the score to 1-1! Many thanks to Tai (Year 12) for the excellent photos of this annual sporting highlight!

Socially, staff and students enjoyed the leavers’ BBQ on Thursday, despite the inclement weather. And Friday’s celebrations continued with a buffet lunch for our leavers, some unusual fancy dress costumes, and the ever-popular inflatable assault course.

The Sixth Form is, for many pupils, a highlight of their time at Wilson’s: a time when friendships are solidified which will be maintained for the rest of their lives and when the highest standards of academic achievement are reached. All of our Wilson’s community wishes the Class of 2024 all the very best for the future.
