Wilson's School

The Jungle Book

Audiences at Wilson's productions have come to expect very high standards and these have yet again been accomplished in the most recent Lower School production: The Jungle Book. With the invaluable assistance of Debbie Straw, Director, Producer and Designer Ben Kavanagh has created one of the most visually memorable shows of recent years.

This acclaimed stage adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's stories by Stuart Paterson has been described as ‘a vibrant, colourful family adventure that's full of surprises’ and we did indeed enjoy a very entertaining evening. The maturity of the young cast enabled the production to explore some of the darker themes in Kipling's stories, including abandonment and fostering, law and freedom.

Aaron was highly impressive as Mowgli, leading a committed on-stage team who embodied the vivid forms of Shere Khan (a very menacing Kaan C, Year 8), Baloo (Kaan B, Year 7), and Buldeo the Village Chief (Owen, Year 8), as well as more complex characters such as Kaa the Snake (Nilavan, Year 7) and Baghera (Devam, Year 8).

Without sixth form students returning to help, none of this would be possible. Thank you and very well done to Euan (Stage Manager), Rohan (Deputy Stage Manager and Chief Lighting), Ilyas (Sound), Tai (Assistant Stage Manager and Lighting), Toba, Yohann, and Bharanie (all Assistant Stage Managers) - all in Year 12 - and to the many other members of the crew from almost all year groups.
