Wilson's School

Winner: Young Historian Award

Tai (Year 13) has won the Special Recognition Prize with a Very Highly Commended classification for his essay on...

'The Memories of Battle Fighting through Music and Words: the Actions of the Hemings'

Tai entered the Young Historian essay competition (Spirit of Normandy Trust), centring his essay on a piece of music 'A Threnody for a Soldier Killed in Action' which was composed by British soldier Michael Heming. Delving deeper into Heming's story, Tai used the piece of music and the book 'A Knight There Was' by Mary England (pseudonym used by Joyce Heming, Michael's mother) as two sources to explore World War Two. He received the Special Recognition Prize with a very highly commended classification for his essay.

Separately - in his new role as Development Prefect - Tai has also helped photograph key events at Wilson's in the last month outside of school hours, including our 111th Wilson's Alumni Dinner and our New Year 7 Parents' Social Evening. Well done to Tai for embodying the school's motto of service - Not For Oneself, But For All!
