Young Musician of the Year

On Thursday, the Music department held the annual Young Musician of the Year competition.
This is the culmination of our House Music competition and involves all the winners - and some selected runners up - of each instrumental category battling it out to be crowned the Junior and Senior Young Musician of the Year respectively.
This year we were honoured to welcome Andrew McKenna as our guest adjudicator. Andrew is a composer, orchestrator, arranger, and accompanist who has worked extensively in film and television. He was extremely impressed with the very high standard of playing by every single competitor.
This is always one of the highlights of the musical calendar at Wilson's and is a wonderful opportunity for our very best musicians to perform in front of an enthusiastic and encouraging audience.
The results were as follows:
Junior Young Musician of the Year
- Winner - Hanchen (Cello)
- Runner up - Advait (Drums)
- Highly commended - Ben (Piano)
Senior Young Musician of Year
- Winner - Michael (Trombone)
- Runner up - Adithya (Mridangam)
- Highly commended - Han (Cello).
